On October 29, 2012, the deadliest and most destructive hurricane of the 2012 season made landfall in the New York City area: Hurricane Sandy. Sandy proved to be the second-costliest hurricane in United States history, with damage estimates over $65 Billion.

In the middle of this disaster, a portable multi-site church in New Jersey thought “We have to do something.” And so they did.

This is the story of the Liquid Church project SandyThanksgiving and how they mobilized thousands of volunteers to provide dinners, care and clean-up crews to a devastated community in the days, weeks and months following this disaster. Also included in this book are ways to mobilize within your own community after a disaster.
