3 Reasons to Pursue a Church Plant Now
September 13, 2017

Missiologist C. Peter Wagner once said, “Planting new churches is the most effective evangelistic methodology known under heaven.”

These days, this is becoming more and more apparent. According to our new church planter survey, a third or more of churchgoers are inviting people to church! Plus, in the first five years of a new church, 52% of churchgoers are more likely to invite friends and family to “consider faith in Jesus Christ than at any other time in the life of the church.”

Church planting is not only a need, but it has a strong chance to be the right move for you, right now!

Here are three more optimistic statistics that are helpful for church planters:

  • According to a Barna Group study, 47% of America’s unchurched is open to being invited to church by a friend. In comparison, only 14-18% of the population is open to other outreach efforts like flyers, newspaper ads, and billboards.
  • New church plants attract more people. From our survey with Leadership Network, church planters said that in their first 5 years of life, a new church or multisite campus typically grows 170% FASTER than the average of all subsequent years.
  • Buildings comprise the second largest area of operating expenses for churches and usually cost millions of dollars to build. If you’re worried people won’t come to your church if you don’t own a building, have no fear. People are just as likely to attend your portable church as they would a fixed space. If you decide to go portable, you’ll save money while attracting people and growing at similar, and in some cases more improved, rates.
